modesty

My 2 1/2-yr.-old is potty training right now. She has been wearing the big girl undies I bought for her a while back while we were shopping in Kansas City. I got the smallest ones I could find. I didn't want to buy her Walmart ones because we had problems with those when my son was first potty training from the fabric being kinda rough. However, we had a different problem this time. My husband and I both feel that the ones we have are just not modest enough for a little girl. We have the windows open all day and the kids go in and out into the backyard all the time. During potty training, my kids are often partially dressed. And the way the houses are in my neighborhood you can see into each other's backyards. Especially those of us on split level homes where the top floor is high. So I decided to find more modest undies than what we have.

The ones on the top right with green and white polka dots are size 2-3T from Gymboree. They are very cute and came in a pack of seven, one for each day of the week. The green ones below that are Gap size XXS. They fit very well, but don't really provide much coverage in the front. And the red and yellow ones on the left are the ones we just got in the mail today. They are size 1-2 yrs (European size 86/92 cm.) from Polarn O. Pyret. These are already my favorite. My daughter is currently wearing a red pair (not pictured) that have little white snails printed on them. She said they were Gary, Spongebob Squarepants' pet snail. I really like the cut of these because they look like what little girl's underwear should be, cute, fun and modest. And to top it off, I got them on sale for $5.40 per pack of 2.

Azalea, you should totally make her some! I love this pattern and have used it several times for my son. The cut is perfect! Here's the link: http://www.etsy.com/listing/54363175/childrens-undies-sewing-pattern-pdf

Well, I'm sure you don't get too much sewing time with a newborn and all! lol!
