Since the strawberries are in season, I've been buying them while they're still sweet. I've been trying to be more conscious of what we consume and have been buying organic food where it counts, but I couldn't pass up non-organic, cheap fruit that's in season. I bought a package of strawberries at Walmart and was both amused and a bit shocked by how large some of the strawberries were. I can only hope that the unusually large size is not due to chemicals used to encourage growth that may have long-term health effects on people. My daughter is holding both a normal sized strawberry and a crazy large one. My son thought it was fun to eat the enormous strawberry.
